How it works
1. Hold the hotkey
Default Ctrl+Shift+Space. Hold to talk, or tap to toggle hands-free. Works in Chrome, Word, Slack, VS Code, terminals, Remote Desktop.
2. Speak naturally
Whisper (whisper.cpp) runs locally on your CPU — or GPU in the Vulkan build. Auto-detects English or Spanish. Say "comma", "new line", "punto y aparte".
3. Text appears where your cursor is
Typed directly as keystrokes. Where an app needs paste, TapSpoken pastes and then puts your clipboard back exactly as it was.

Why one-time?
Dictation tools that upload your voice charge $12–15 every month. TapSpoken does the work on your own PC, so there is nothing for us to meter. Pay once, keep it.
System requirements: Windows 10 (1809+) or 11, 64-bit, 4 GB RAM (8 GB for the medium model), a microphone. Models are downloaded on first run (base: 141 MB).
Privacy
Audio stays on your PC
Microphone audio is processed in memory by whisper.cpp and discarded. It is never written to disk or sent to any server.
No account, no telemetry
TapSpoken has no sign-up and sends no usage data. Your last 20 transcripts are stored only in your local app folder; you can clear them any time.
What does go online
Model files are downloaded from the configured mirror. If you buy Pro, your license key and the email you used at checkout go to Dodo Payments to activate and verify the key.

Support & FAQ
The hotkey does nothing in one app
Apps running as administrator cannot receive input from normal apps (Windows UIPI). Run that app normally, or run TapSpoken as administrator too.
Text was pasted instead of typed and my clipboard changed
Terminals and Remote Desktop need paste. TapSpoken restores your clipboard after pasting; if an app locked the clipboard at that moment, the restore can fail — your previous content is listed in History → nothing is lost. Tell us which app and we will add a rule.
Accuracy is poor
Set the language explicitly instead of auto, use a headset mic, and in Pro switch to the small or medium model.
Moving to a new PC
Settings → Pro → Deactivate on this PC frees the seat. Keys allow 3 active PCs.
