Privacy policy

Summary

• Microphone audio is processed on your device and never leaves it.
• The app has no accounts and collects no analytics or telemetry.
• If you buy Pro, your license key and the email you used at checkout are processed by Dodo Payments, our commerce provider.

Microphone and audio

TapSpoken records from your microphone only while you hold or toggle the dictation hotkey. The audio is held in memory, transcribed locally by the whisper.cpp speech engine, and discarded. Audio is not saved to disk and is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

Transcripts and settings

The text of your last 20 dictations, your settings, dictionary and snippets are stored in your Windows user profile (%APPDATA%\dev.tegus.tapspoken). You can clear history from the History tab and remove everything by uninstalling the app. This data never leaves your PC.

Network use

• Speech models are downloaded from the mirror shown in Settings → Models (by default Hugging Face). The request contains the model file name and standard HTTP metadata such as your IP address, subject to the mirror's own privacy policy.
• Pro license: when you activate, the app sends your license key and a device name (your Windows user and computer name) to Dodo Payments (live.dodopayments.com), which returns an activation id. The app re-validates the key with Dodo about every 7 days and when you deactivate. Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for the purchase and holds the email and payment details you entered at checkout under its privacy policy (dodopayments.com/privacy-policy). We do not see your card details.

There are no other network connections: no crash reporting, no update pings (updates come through the Microsoft Store), no usage analytics.

Website

tapspoken.com is a static site. Our hosting provider logs standard request data (IP address, user agent, time) for security. We do not use cookies or third-party analytics.

Children

TapSpoken is a general-purpose utility not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about free users, there is nothing for us to export or delete. Pro buyers can ask us to deactivate or delete a license record, and may exercise GDPR/CCPA rights with Dodo Payments for checkout data. Contact: support@tapspoken.com.

Changes

We will post changes on this page with a new effective date. Material changes to what the app sends over the network will also be noted in the Store listing's release notes.
